Birds Of Australia (Central Coast & Blue Mountains)
I submitted this portfolio of four photos into the Photographer of the Year 2024, presented by Ted’s Cameras.
The Nankeen Kestrel is a regular at the Terrigal Haven on the New South Wales Central Coast. This beautiful bird sat perched upon a dead branch. It would leave to circle for a few minutes but always returned to this branch. Across the Skillion, a laughing kookaburra watched as people climbed up and kids rolled down the big hill.
The two superb fairy wrens were located at Yarramundi Reserve by the Nepean River in the Blue Mountains. The female stopped on a tree stump just long enough for me to capture a photo. The male hopped about on the ground, his bright blue feathers glistened in the sunlight.
Female Superb Fairywren. Nepean River Yarramundi Reserve.
Laughing Kookaburra. Terrigal Haven.
Male Superb Fairywren. Nepean River Yarramundi Reserve.
Nankeen Kestrel. Terrigal Haven.
I received a Highly Commended Award for this set of photographs.
These photos were taken with a canon 200D and Sigma 150-600mm lens. I am loving this lens. I got it for an incredible discount because there is a slight crack in the plastic casing.
